OFFICIAL MINUTES FROM HACK MEETING Wed, 28 March 2007 PRESIDING: Nicole Strine, HACK President & Treasurer LOCATION: Hickory Hollow Big turn out. 2 Art Car Balls. As I get info, you will have it. The Art Car Ball LLC has divided. Julie and Debbie will be staying on the LLC, Kenny and Visker will be getting off of it. The money in the associated bank account will be divided by those members, plus me for the one year I was on the LLC. Everyone who put money in to finance the Ball 2 years ago was repaid. This money left in the account will be divided evenly and then distributed back into a Ball or into other art car events, after taxes and cost for LLC members to be changed is completed. No one is pocketing any money for personal gain. The 2 Balls will be at the Sons of Herman Lodge and at the Meridian, both on the same night - Thursday, May 10. These events are very different from each other. Sons of Herman will be all ages, designed to cater to a family crowd.... the Meridian is adult only, catering to a "club" crowd. As I have info, you will have it. The LLC is not fighting with each other. They are promoting each other's events. Tonight, I made it very clear that if YOU want to fight with each other, take sides, argue, well, that is your call. You are all adults. You can do whatever you want. Including, deciding which event you will want to go to or if you will try to attend both. America, land of opportunity and choices... and the only place you will ever run into this situation. Again, as I get info, you will have it and that will help you decide how you will spend your evening. When I know where posters can be picked up, I will email you the info. Brian Bryan Award. I am now taking nominations for the Brother Brian Bryan Award. Please send me a name of anyone you would like to nominate to win this award. It will be presented to the winner at the Brunch on Art Car Weekend by it's current owner, Bryan Taylor. Bryan and I are the only 2 people ineligible to win this award. Past winners are eligible to win again. The current holder and your President may not win. I will take nominations for 1 week, until April 4. Then I will send out the nominees and you will vote on a winner. This award represents the person you think contributes their time and lifestyle to that of the representative "art car person". The person who walks the walk and talks the talk of art cars as a whole on a daily basis. So, start sendin' them to me! Next meeting TBA, but it will be on a Weds, per agreement at tonight's meeting. Orange Show Parade Packet stuffing will be on Weds, April 11, and that's where Happy Hour will be that week. If you have something you want put in the Packet, contact the Orange Show. Post Parade Party. This will follow the Parade on May 12 and the central location will be Last Concert Cafe. Dawn will open the restaurant and bar early and there will be food provided to parade participants via 2 "tickets" that will be IN YOUR PACKET on the bottom of the flier for that event. You must present this ticket to get your meal. If you have more than one entry and find that you have tickets to share, please give them out. Some entries have more than 2 people and they would happily take your extras. This party needs planning. I will have to get with Dawn, but I would like to see the stage filled with music, porta can(s) near by even tho they have restrooms, there will be a parking lot to park in and Coney will be manning that so do what she says! There will be opportunities to help plan this party, but it might be a last minute organization. The basics are already decided, time, place, food, now we just get to figure out the rest and let's face it, this crowd knows how to put together an event and have a good time at it! More info to come as I figure it out. ;) Hosting Out of Towners: Brian and Shelley are working on this. Bryan is santaclauscar@yahoo.com or santaclauscar@sbcglobal.com and Shelley is artcarbarbie@sbcglobal.net. Rebecca Lowe art@rebeccalowe.info would like to put a buddy system in place so that every out of towner has at least 3 phone numbers of Hack members to contact in case they need anything. She will work with Bryan and Shelley to make this happen. Please contact them if you have any questions. Hack calendar: This is the perfect time to use the calendar. If you have an event or a party or anything art car related that you want to invite or inform the art car community about, please post it to the calendar. Go to our website, www.houstonartcarklub.com , click the calendar button, go to the bottom and add your event. Easy. I will approve and it will be posted. YOU GET TO PUT YOUR EVENTS ON. Instead of emailing me or Bryan about an event, put it on the calendar yourself, set up the reminder and it will go out to the whole list, just as if Bryan or I or Kim had sent it. Currently we are the only 3 people that can post to this list. Trinicom is changing servers, might have already happened, but if you notice any weirdness, it might be because of that. If you are having trouble getting emails or reminders, etc, please email Bryan at the address above and he can check into it. I have asked the Orange Show to also post their events to the calendar so we all get them. Hack will be promoting three events during Art Car Weekend: Wednesday will be the Happy Hour, at our usual place, no food, just a chance to kick off your weekend. Post Parade Party will be at Last Concert Cafe. Illuminated Cruise. The route will be made by Kenny and Visker. The flier in your packet will give you the starting point. I will make all these fliers. If you have info for them, get it to me asap. Fliers are due at the OShow by Monday, April 9. 275 copies each, to be safe. I want to take a moment to point out that Houston's gathering of art cars and their artists is the largest in the country. There are many dynamic personalities and boisterous people. All of these qualities and the fact that we paint, glue, stick, smear, smudge, form, fire, illuminate, water, etc. our cars, makes us incredibly unique. Remember, we do all of this because we are driven toward it, we can't help ourselves. No matter how we may have our differences on ANY topic, please take care when talking to or about your fellow artists. These people are more important to you than you think. This, my unusual friends, is your family, so chill, and try to enjoy it while we have each other. Have a great week and weekend - and if I forgot anything, as I usually do - it's hell getting old - I will forward it on later. Thanks for playing, thank you all for being so wonderful and thank you for all your help. :) ---------------------------------------- -- Posted by, or on behalf of, Nicole Strine.
