OFFICIAL MINUTES FROM HACK MEETING Sunday, 24 June 2007 PRESIDING: Nicole Strine, HACK President & Treasurer LOCATION: Freebirds Patio, Shepherd Plaza Ok, here we go: Great venue for a meeting. We ended up on the patio of Freebirds and I would LOVE to have it there again. Quiet enough to talk and bevs, food there and ice cream next door. It was decided that there will be no exclusivity of HACK. No one will be eliminated from the mailing list or excluded from any HACK event. It was decided that if you have an issue with another person who attends events/functions, and you wish to have nothing to do with that person and they address you, tell them to go away. That's as far as the conversation about this topic got. It's hard as we have always been an inclusive society of artists and adults, but some find themselves in a predicament now and since, as a group, we will not exclude, it was decided that you still have the right to ask someone to leave you alone if you wish. This should be common sense, but I am including it in the minutes as it was part of our meeting. Orange Show - there are changes. Kim Stolis has moved on to another job and Suzanne Theis, the Orange Show Director, has taken a position elsewhere as well, and she will be gone with the next couple of weeks. Thank yous - to so many of you out there who went above and beyond on Art Car Weekend. And now a big thank you to Dennis and Paul who post SO many pictures on www.flickr.com there should never be a reason for you to be bored or absent a big grin when viewing them and the comments associated with them. Just do a search of art car or firecracker hats or illuminated cruise, etc, and you'll have tons of pictures and that many more links to others. Yea!! Fundraiser for the Art Car Ball - tentatively set for Aug 4 and there is also an Illuminated Cruise associated with White Linen Nights in the Heights from 6-10p. When Mitch posts it to the calendar, you will receive the info. Kirk, Shelley and Evelyn each put seed money of $500 toward the event and the organizers would like to see them repaid. Calendar - Bryan and I will no longer forward requests for art car appearances. If someone wants art cars for their event or party or parade or fund raiser, etc, THEY will be instructed to go to the site and put the information on the calendar themselves. All postings go thru me for approval. This will insure nothing is missed or left off the calendar because either me or Bryan are too busy or forgetful to post them ourselves. Mike is making changes to the posting page to guide the user on what exactly should be included when requesting art cars, including incentives - incentives were brought up at the meeting and that's why it is being included on the website. Remember, you only get to decide and vote on HACK "business" if you show up at a meeting. Happy Hour - It's summer and we are again moving our happy hour. For the next 2 months official HACK Happy Hour will be at Shady's on 20th, near Beall. This is an Ice House with set-ups. In 8 weeks we'll decide where to move it or if it should stay there for a while longer. I will update the calendar reminders. July 4th - I'm hoping you've kept up with the requests that were sent out and were not put on the calendar. Please contact Bryan if you would like to do the Lindale Park Parade that day. santaclauscar@yahoo.com The move to have YOU and others put the events on the calendar should eliminate that problem in the future. Always working to make the art car community a better place. ;) The Last Supper - the after Parade party at Last Concert Cafe - Everyone loved it and the only requested change would be for an acoustic set. Had I not flubbed that up, Coney would have had that in place. My apologies to all. Next year, if we do it again, we will try for that change. SkyBlue72 is an AWESOME band, but by 3pm that day, we are in no place to appreciate loud music. I'm still so thankful that they came out and played for us. I'm sure they felt a little slighted too tho, I mean, we were all kind of "spent" by then. :) I will send a thank you to Brock at St. Arnold for always being such great supporters of HACK. Their presence was missed at this most recent Parade and it's surrounding events. "Drive-Outs" will take place monthly. This is where we drive our cars out of town and do something fun, like a drive in movie at night or going to a Sonic in Waller on a Saturday afternoon. Your art should be freeway worthy to participate. If not, hitch a ride with another artist in their art car. I will send out requests on what we should do, when, where, etc. WT will have his website up and running soon and when I get the info, you will get it. He would like to have links to other art car artists' and other cool sites on the web. Jeff Towns made a cleaver as a HACK logo and when I get a link to a picture of it, I will send it out to you. There was discussion of making this the HACK logo. We will vote on this at the next meeting. We will also vote on making t-shirts too. $200 of the HACK "treasury" will be sent to the art car artist that drove the furthest to get here for this year's Parade. When I know who it is, I will let you know too... at the next meeting. Whew! That was a LOT. ---------------------------------------- -- Posted by, or on behalf of, Nicole Strine.
