Record meeting! Shortest meeting in at least 2 years! All information is in your Parade Packet regarding Art Car Weekend 2008, if you are a participant. If you are not a participant, you can find information about the Weekend's activities at www.houstonartcarklub.com or www.orangeshow.org I suggest you put your packet in your bathroom for reading material. EEeeooouuuuwwwwah....  yeah, whatever, it's a great way to get the information read, be informed and up to date. Or you could do this with it: http://www.flickr.com/photos/denaldo/2443000100/  All of the following Weekend events are on our HACK calendar at www.localendar.com/public/artcar and are EXPLAINED IN GREATER DETAIL!: Weds - Welcome to Houston Party Thurs - The Bullock- www.artcarbullock.com Friday - Main Street Drag - starts and end at the Continental Club - read your packet! Friday evening - Sneak Peak at the World Famous Orange Show - a huge block party! Saturday - line up and roll in the world's largest Art Car Parade Saturday afternoon - Post Parade Party at Discovery Green, Award's Ceremony at 6pm Saturday night - gather at dusk on the median across from the Art Car Museum, roll after dark, ILLUMINATED! Sunday - Hit and Run, followed by the Sunday Brunch Things we discussed at today's meeting: This week's (4/30) HACK Happy Hour has been moved! Volunteer Recruitment and Orientation Sponsored by Capital One for Orange Show events for Art Car Weekend! Capital One Midtown 6-8pm; 408 Webster, Houston, TX 77002 NO OPEN ALCOHOLIC CONTAINERS AND NO DRINKING ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES IN YOUR CAR WHILE YOU ARE PARTICIPATING, ROLLING, IN THE PARADE. We have been warned that HPD will be looking for participants who are drinking and driving.  The Bullock - www.artcarbullock.com - YOU NEED TO RSVP!!!!! Money is needed. There will be a fund raiser next weekend that will be in these minutes. Please come out and help next weekend. The Bullock is short $$$ and we're hoping the fundraiser will not only help fix that problem, but that we'll have a good time doing it too. The Bullock is not a private party, but is a party for art car artists and their friends. It is exclusionary only to the point that complete strangers aren't expected. If you bring your children and they misbehave, you and your children will be removed from the party - per the owner of the property. Security will be on site. Many, many fun things are planned. ART CARS MUST ARRIVE BETWEEN 4-6PM, party starts at 7pm - BRING EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO HAVE A GOOD TIME - bevs, food, costumes, seating, fire, you know, the usual. ;) VOLUNTEERS ARE DESPERATELY NEEDED FOR THIS EVENT!! BBMAA - Congratulations to this year's nominees.  It was a tight race. The winner has been chosen and the trophy will be handed off to it's new owner, for a year, at the Award's Ceremony at Discovery Green after the Parade. Thank you for all the votes. It really made a difference! I respectfully ask that all nominees be at Discovery Green for the Award's Ceremony, and if you cannot make it I'd like to know. Thanks!Art Car Weekend of Events Fundraiser:  Saturday, May 3rd, All Stars Sports Bar, 1055 Bay Area Blvd. http://allstarstexas.com/ I will let you know if there is a caravan or we'll just meet up there. Arrive at 3pm, serve 4-8pm. Contact Evelyn at evelyn@partycars.net to sign up to serve, bring your art car, or both! The more the merrier so drop everything you're doing, get all your friends to come out and eat BBQ if you can't come out and work the event! Spread the word. And this will just be fun, that's all there is to it. Yet another of the few opportunities that we get to all hang out and do something together. And exactly one week before the Parade! Let's make this a success! As I get details, you will get details! Suggested place for next meeting would be the private room at the Corkscrew, so I will ck that out. No more emails for non-art car related misc items via HACK email?  It was asked by someone on the HACK email list that things unrelated to art cars or their events, like asking for plumbers or electricians, not be sent out to the list. No vote was necessary as no one felt this was a nuicence, that they could just hit the delete button if it didn't apply to them. Seems we all figure it would be a waste not to be able to link up when we need a service one of the other members can provide or recommend. Illuminated Cruise music: There seems to be a miscommunication that I will do my best to clear up. Graciously both the Defenestration Unit and Big Al Bettis have volunteered to play for us this night, but only one is necessary. It's so cool to have both bands volunteer like this! Thank you to both and I will try to, again, figure out who it is that will be playing! That's it. All very simple this time. So, see many of you next weekend at the fund raiser and the rest of you starting on the 7th! Remember, we do this for FUN, if it ain't fun for you any more, then, well, don't play.
