While recording new events to the calendar I thought that maybe it would be good to allow the user community the ability to update an event priviously posted. The update would change the event to private untill the subsrciber could validate its authenticity just like a new event being added. Would this be feasable? ---------------------------------------- M J Dulle |

For a user-submitted event, that person already is able to go back in and edit it (which will flip it back to Private, unless the calendar owner has said Make it Public Immediately) Are you suggesting this capability for an event added by the calendar's owner? Sort of a crowd-sourced update capability? ---------------------------------------- Marc Higgins Support Associate, localendar.com Follow us on Twitter! http://www.twitter.com/localendar_news |

How does a user update an event that is already posted? The only buttons at the bottom of the public calendar are "Add Event" "Printable View" and "Search". ---------------------------------------- M J Dulle |

If the event was submitted by a user (using that public Add Event button) then when they save the event, they are given a special url that they can use to go back to the event and change it. The could even post this url back into the event so that anyone could change it. ---------------------------------------- Marc Higgins Support Associate, localendar.com Follow us on Twitter! http://www.twitter.com/localendar_news |

I keep all events entered by anybody other than me to be recorded as private until I flip the switch for the event to be seen on the public calendar. So I am asking that an update button be added so the folks have the abillity to updat the event when circumstances change. When the folks other than the owner (me) do update the system would send me an email that the event has changed and that I need to review it for content and validity. Just as if the event were entered for the first time. ---------------------------------------- M J Dulle |

That should be the workflow now; except we give the user that unique link instead of a specific Update button. If they use that link to change the event (and you've set yourself up to review events) it should flip back to Private for your review again (I'll verify) The reason we give the person the unique link rather than use an Update button, is that we have no way of knowing when a person visits the page if they were the person who added the event. If we wanted to show the event author a button, we'd have to make them login (which means we'd also have to make them sign up before they could add events). Seems cumbersome. ---------------------------------------- Marc Higgins Support Associate, localendar.com Follow us on Twitter! http://www.twitter.com/localendar_news |

Thanks for the explanation! Now I understand how users can modify their own posts, and also the difficulties with simply adding an Update button. Good job! |
