I like the Monthly list view embedded into my website using the Javascript code, but I would like it to not show the description in the list, just the event time and title, as the list is going to be really long otherwise. Any way of switching off the description in that view?

I can give you something close:
Try the "Today+Happening Soon" view (D2)
Under Options->General click the "Show More>>" link near the bottom of the tab. You can increase the look-ahead period to 30 days, and you can also turn off the Event Descriptions.
