I've been using background colours to represent scheduling of events in different areas of our building (a community theatre). I do not see any ability to create layers....is it there and I have just missed it? This is becoming an issue as we move towards iCal Subscribing to our calendar from services like Google so we can see our calendar in our hand held devices easier. The problem is all the colour settings are lost when viewed in Google and it becomes almost unusable for our purposes. What would you recommend? |

By "layers" I assume you mean event background colors? And if I understand correctly, you are concerned that these colors are not reflected in the iCal export (from localendar) that you view in Google? I believe Google lets you color-code calendars, but I also assume that you don't want all imported events to be the same color, you want the colors retained on specific events? Unfortunately, the iCalendar (ics) file format does not support providing color information. The most you could do is color-code all of the imported events as I noted above in Google. Perhaps a naming convention or event prefix could take the place of a particular color. ---------------------------------------- Marc Higgins Support Associate, localendar.com Follow us on Twitter! http://www.twitter.com/localendar_news |

I have 5 areas of our theatre building we can book separately but need to easily see if there are certain types of overlaps eg. don't want to rent out the lobby area if we have a show on. This is very easy to see with the background colours. I think of layers as a separate definition of calendar dates that has its own attributes like foreground and background colours and I can view all or any combination of the "layers" at once. In my case each area of the theatre would be on a separate layer. Then if we were to iCal Subscribeeach layer could be andled indepently. So in localendar does this concept exist or could I create 5 separate calendars and view them all as one calendar as an embed in our website? |

You could merge 5 calendars together, and give each a separate color. But how about if you created 5 separate custom categories on a single calendar, and gave each one of those a separate color? Would that work for your needs? There is still the issue of exporting to Google... in that case, I think you would need the 5 separate calendars, and you could tell Google to color each one differently on import. ---------------------------------------- Marc Higgins Support Associate, localendar.com Follow us on Twitter! http://www.twitter.com/localendar_news |
