Is there an option or a feature I need to toggle?
Shouldn't this be an automatic feature that when event has occurred, the event goes away?
Thanks!

Many people still want to see the events on their calendar, even if they have already occurred, so we support that option.

In your case, the Publish Wizard has an option for hiding all events that have happened in the past. If you check this box, the html created to publish your calendar will have this option set.
