Hi,
Is there a way to include a legend to tell people the significance of the colors I have selected for various events?

Currently, no... but some people are using the following workaround:

For the event color, rather than picking from the list and getting a hex code, they type in one of the browser-safe color names. e.g., orange, yellow, pink, salmon ... There are a bunch. See the list at http://webdesign.about.com/od/colorcharts/l/bl_namedcolors.htm (among other places)

Next, in their calendar footer, they add custom HTML like:

Sports events are in <font color=red>RED</font>, Meetings are in <font color=blue>BLUE</font>
