Hello, Is there a way to copy an entire category and assign different dates. The process I am currently using is: 1. Create a new category 2. "Save as Copy" of the date I am copying 3. Update the "copy" by changing the category # and date 4. Press the "update" button and it saves under the new category #. Note: When I do this for the entire category, sometimes there are anywhere from 20 - 60 days that i need to "copy and manually update one-by-one. This process is super time-consuming. Is there a better/easier way to do this? |

It does sound time-consuming. I have to do some testing to see if maybe there is a way to export and re-import to make things easier (out of curiosity, do you have access to a spreadsheet tool like Excel?) Also - do all of the dates move forward by a fixed amount (i.e., 1 month), or does the update effect differently? I do have access to Excel. I actually use excel to keep myself on track while making the updates. Also - do all of the dates move forward by a fixed amount (i.e., 1 month), or does the update effect differently? Sometimes the dates move forward in a fixed amount (if everything works out perfectly) which is ideal, but only if there are no holidays that fall within the schedule. If there is a holiday, it will skip days and the schedule will be altered a bit and have to be pushed out to accommodate for the holidays. When you do update the dates, are you moving (for example) the first Monday of the month to the first monday of the following month, or from the 5th of the month to the 5th of next month? No. It is not the same start date every month (like 1st Monday of the month, etc.). It is sporadic. However, if the program is Tue/Thurs, it will always start on a Tues and follow the same schedule pattern (whether it's an 8-week program or 5-week program) with the above exceptions (see above response that talks about Holidays). |

Sorry - 1 more question: Is it critical that you "move" the events - meaning the old occurrences disappear from the calendar, or is it OK to create a new copy going forward? If a copy is OK - then this is what I am going to suggest as a possible solution: Step 1: Figure out localendar's category codes for your events. The easiest way to do this is to go to the Edit Categories page and jot down the # in the ID column. For example, your custom category "Class 7705" is ID 102. "7706" is ID 104, etc. Step 2: Export a sample month worth of events to CSV (aka Excel!) to use as a template. Click Export on the left menu and select the CSV tab. Then go to the CSV export page and choose a date range (i.e., 06/01/2019 through 06/30/2019) Step 3: Open the downloaded file in Excel. You can edit the dates, category code, etc for all the events in the file to whatever you want. Step 4: Re-import the CSV onto your calendar, by clicking Import on the left menu, selecting the File Upload tab, and clicking the "Import a CSV file" link. Something important I should mention: We never clarified if you are copying events to a new month or replacing them in the existing month. A CSV import will never overwrite existing events, so if you want to do a replace, you will either need to delete the old events manually first, or clear your entire calendar for the given period (under Options->Events) I would try a very small experiment first so you don't mess up your gloriously packed calendar. Hi Marc, The import feature worked great! And yes, to answer your question, we were copying events to a new month not replacing them. This will save me a lot of time ![]() The import specification file does not offer an option to include a background color for each event (which we need). Is there a way to include the background color with a CSV import? This would also be very helpful! I look forward to your response! Thanks for your help! Liz |

Not presently.. but I think since you are using custom categories, the default color you assign for a category would take precedence anyway.
