Hello! I set up an email reminder for a test event on my calendar (concordexpress), however, that time has passed, and I haven't received anything. I had first set it up to email my Yahoo Group, but realized that wouldn't work, because Yahoo would reject it as not being a 'member'. Then, I set up an email alias on my website, which forwards to several members, including myself, but still nothing. Suggestions? Thanks! |

OK, now an update. At least one of the people on my email list DID get the reminder, but I did not. I use Verizon DSL, and I'm suspecting that they might be blocking the remind_agent@localendar.com email address from getting through. Has anyone else run into this before? If so, how can I get around it (other than sending it to another email address that I don't use as much, which wouldn't be too helpful as far as the reminders are concerned)? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! |

Verizon told me they can't 'verify' the sender 'remind_agent@localendar.com', so they have blocked it. Therefore, I can't get the reminders, which partially defeats the purpose of using your service. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. |

Unfortunately, this proves out the flaw with the mail filtering they are doing. You should request that localendar.com be added to their "White-list". I suspect they are trying to do a reverse DNS lookup on localendar.com, which is failing (or not returning what they expect). This is the flaw in this method. We have localendar.com, .net, and .org. And we want to be able to send "localendar.com" email from any of these domans. But if they trace a localendar.com message back to localendar.net, they assume it was an illegitmate email. There are other problems with their approach, which is why most people don't use it. Sigh, it's a spammy world, so I can't blame them for trying, but there are a lot of sites that will get incorrectly filtered with this technique. ---------------------------------------- Marc Higgins Support Associate, localendar.com Follow us on Twitter! http://www.twitter.com/localendar_news |

I wish I could. The message I got back was that since they couldn't 'verify' you, you would continue to be blocked. I don't think they'd honor my request to 'white list' you. |

Sigh - as an alternative, you could set up a free Yahoo Group, and add yourself as the only member. The group would have an email address that you could use for the reminder field, but as a group member, and email sent to *that* address would instead be forwarded by Yahoo to your Verizon address. I'm sure Verizon has white-listed them. ---------------------------------------- Marc Higgins Support Associate, localendar.com Follow us on Twitter! http://www.twitter.com/localendar_news |
