can I copy the current calendar from one year to another? do the dates self adjust?

You cannot copy all of the events to a new year directly, but there are a couple of options:

1) you can just edit your existing events (and consider making them "repeat annually" so they will always be there for you in future years
2) you can export the calendar to a file, edit the dates in the exported file, and then re-import the file
