I am getting my reminders consistently late....by days. I usually ask for a two hour reminder. I just got a reminder tonight, 7/16, for an event that took place on Thursday 7/14. I have tried a couple of test reminders which have not worked.

We're looking into general email delays that seem to be happening (both for reminders, email verifications, password resets, etc)

According to our email server logs, the mails are being sent, and we don't have a lot of visibility after they leave our network. I can confirm from some testing myself though that there are significant delays. We are opening a ticket with our ISP to see if they have made any network changes.

I think we have this tracked down. As you may know from previous posts, we've been fighting a recent uptick in spam/bot activity.

One consequence of this is we added a requirement that new members click an email verification link since most of these bots register with invalid email addresses.

Well, it turns out our mail server will still make multiple (up to 4) attempts to deliver to invalid addresses, and given the deluge of fake accounts, there was an outgoing email queue of over 29K mails. That was slowing things down for legitimate emails, too.

We purged the queue and are dropping the retry count. Emails seem to be going out quicker and we'll continue to monitor the situation.
