I am trying to embed ONLY the current month (i.e. January 2008) into an Iframe on my website. The way my site is structured, I have a separate page on my site for each month of the year. For this reason I don’t want the navigation on the top of my embedded calendar. I tried to use the traditional frame embed by checking the box next to I would like to embed my calendar as part of a web page. One problem though, when I paste the script that is generated by your site into my html editor, nothing appeared in my preview mode of my editor. The script was in the source code where it was supposed to be but it didn’t create an iFrame as the source code for the interactive calendar did. I am not really very good with javascript and being able to trouble shoot it, so if there is a way of embedding these calendars using the iFrame element, it would be much easier! Please take a look at the calendar page of our website by going to www.dreamsfulfilledthroughmusic.org and clicking on the calendar link on the left hand menu. Once to the Calendar home page click on either the January or February icons (since those are the only ones I have posted. The problem with the calendars I currently have is that they do not show up properly on any computer except mine! Go figure that! If necessary I will provide anyone who thinks they can help with the source code of my attempts that have had me totally frustrated for the last 24 hours!! Thank you, alamoangels ---------------------------------------- [Edit 3 times, last edit by alamoangels at Jan 15, 2008, 12:34:12 PM] |

I'll try and put together a sample for you tomorrow. It's possible for localendar to do exactly what you want with no real effort. I suspect your problems still had to do with how the HTML was pasted, or what your editor decided to preview before you actually deployed the page. ---------------------------------------- Marc Higgins Support Associate, localendar.com Follow us on Twitter! http://www.twitter.com/localendar_news |

By the way, it appears as though the post I had written immediately after your 1st response didn't make it on to the forum. The editor I am using is Nvu for Windows version 1.0 After I wrote my initial post, I took several hours scouring through the help & the Nvu Developer Forums and the only explanation that they gave (which made ZERO sense) was that Nvu didn't support frames. The problem with that explanation is that I have been using i-frames all throughout my website to embed objects such as maps. I have several Google Maps that I have embedded all throughout my site and they appear just fine both in preview and on the web once published! When I embed a Google Map, I simply open the "Insert HTML" dialog box and copy & paste the code from the Google Maps website. This is what I attempted to do with the code from localendar for the static (single month) calendars. What was really odd was that the code for the single month calendars didn't even resemble the code for the interactive calendars. The single month code was written in javascript (with no mention of an i-frame or i-layer). Here is the script that was produced for my single month calendar:
Notice the difference between that & the code for the interactive calendar:
The only difference between the code above for the interactive calendar & the original one that was generated by the site is that I had to change the width & height to accommodate my entire month's calendar. Hope this helps with getting a fix worked out, Thanks, alamoangels |

Have a look at http://www.localendar.com/samples/sample_alamoangels/index.html I've included a link so you can download the html source as well. I used a plain text editor to do this (www.textpad.com); but there are plenty of other free wysiwyg html editors out there - just search on Google. I kept the formatting very simple so that you can see how it all works. ---------------------------------------- Marc Higgins Support Associate, localendar.com Follow us on Twitter! http://www.twitter.com/localendar_news |

Hi There - ![]() ![]() Thanks for the sample. This isn't exactly what I had in mind but it gives me a lot of good ideas for how to accomplish what I need. I have found a few tricks that will work really well with my needs. 1) For the calendar that I have embeded on my website I have actually taken the MS Publisher print version of my calendar & turned it into a single GIF image block that takes up most of the page. I have then used image maps to create a hotspot over each event. The image map program that I used is called MapEdit. It is a really AWESOME shareware program that is only $15 and what's even better is that if you are purchasing it for a non-profit organization, then the cost drops to ZERO, ZIP, NADA... AS IN FREE!!! Here is the link to their website http://www.boutell.com/mapedit/ 2) For the links to the events, I have finally figured out how to incorporate the work that I have done in localendar into my own site. For the longest time I couldn't figure out how to link directly from the hotspot on my calendar to the event detail pop up on localendar. The workaround for that is this... When you are in the viewing mode (i.e. not signed in to the administrative area of your calendar (or you can simply go directly to your public calendar in a separate window) and click on the event to bring up the pop-up. Once the pop-up is up then you can right click anywhere on that window and select "View Page Info" (at least that is the command from within Firefox) and it will give you the actual URL for that particular pop-up window. I then copied that URL and pasted it into the field in my image mapping software that asks for the link that the visitor would be directed to when they click on the hotspot. 3) One of the other wonderful advantages to using localendar vs. simply making your own event detail pages (other than the amount of time saved!!) is that I can also create a link to the list view of events for that month, without RE-ENTERING the data. This is especially important if you have a clientel (as we do) that would be rather likely to be visiting your website via a screen reader for the blind (i.e. JAWS) or other adaptive text to speech technology. I have finished the January calendar and it is up on my site You can visit it by clicking here If the above link does not work you may simply copy & paste the following URL: http://www.alamoangels.org/EventsCalendar08/January_08.html ![]() Thanks again for all your efforts! ~alamoangels |

If you don't want to go through all the trouble of using the map, you can simply make the title into a link, if you want to, you can even make it into a link to the localendar extra detail info... I can't imagine how much extra work the map must be... ---------------------------------------- Peer-Support Specialist |
