Hi, I just recently created the calendar and associated Discussion board forums. I am trying to understand how Discussion forums are supposed to work. First, when I have the Discussion Boards (via the Calendar) embedded or as a direct link and then have a new user create an account (at localendar first), the new user is dropped into the Localcalendar "calendaring" interface instead of the Discussion board forum menu. If they click on the "Discussions" menu item, they are then taken to their (empty) Discussion forum and not the intended Discussion forum. The user has to logout and then locate the proper Discussion forum link for our account. This feels clunky. Second, whether it is a generic account (e.g. the account created above) or the administration account logging into Discussion forums, posting something, looking around, etc. and then logging out, the user is taken to the home page for localendar...instead of the originating location that took the user to the forums in the first place. If the user happens to attempt to log into the localendar homepage with their account thinking they will be taken to the central Discussion forums, they are instead taken to their standalone Discussion forum. This really feels clunky and not ready for prime-time use. What gives? Love what you have done with the calendar, but the Discussion Forums...good grief, it feels like a beta product only ready for IT geeks and not novice computer users. |

Let me try parse this down to a basic question: Are you saying that if a user goes to http://www.localendar.com/forums/icc-calendar and signs up, the go to their calendar homepage and not your forums homepage? Second, when a user signs out of the system, you would prefer they remain where they were, just un-authenticated? This would have to be a forums-only behaviour because clearly if they signed out while looking at a calendar the localendar homepage is the only location that makes sense (cobranded users can actually set a custom page to redirect to on logout btw) ---------------------------------------- Marc Higgins Support Associate, localendar.com Follow us on Twitter! http://www.twitter.com/localendar_news |
