I saw a posting in a thread from a few years ago: "there's no way to change just a portion of the recurring event's data".
Is this still true?
We have regular meetings so want to use repeat events but want to show that week's unique topic.

That is the case. Repeating events are just that: repeating copies of an identical event.

If the information differs, they'd have to be entered as individual events. You can use the "Save copy as" button to take an existing event and save a new version after you've made your changes (like to the date and topic)
