We've found that the export feature doesn't work properly when an event has been designated as an All Day event. Whenever the event is set to All Day and exported (for Outlook), the resultant event.ics file includes a seemingly arbitrary date "range" rather than just the date of the event. Here's an example of a non-repeating, All Day event on July 11, 2010. Note that the start date is correct, but it shows an END DATE of January 11, 2009...exactly 18 months prior to the actual date of the Localendar event. BEGIN:VCALENDARCALSCALE:GREGORIANPRODID:localendar.icalendarBEGIN:VEVENTTITLE:Beat The Heat Mountain OvernighterDTSTART:20100711 DTEND:20090111 SUMMARY:Beat The Heat Mountain OvernighterDESCRIPTION:Beat The Heat Mountain OvernighterX-ALT-DESC;FMTTYPE=text/html:END:VEVENTEND:VCALENDAR The export feature works fine when the event includes a Start Time, but generates an erroneous date range in the export file whenever the event is designated as All Day. This is causing our Outlook users some issues. Is there a way to correct this? Thanks, Electric City H.O.G. |

Creating an ics for Outlook is a little odd b/c different versions have different levels of support for the ics format. Particularly where the "All Day" flag is concerned (which is why we sometimes have to send data that doesn't make sense when you preview it manually) I'll check into this. In the meantime, can I ask what version of Outlook your users are running? ---------------------------------------- Marc Higgins Support Associate, localendar.com Follow us on Twitter! http://www.twitter.com/localendar_news |

My user having this problem is using Outlook 2007. While we realize that the .ics format isn't meant to be manually viewed, both my user and myself (both career IT professionals) thought the data contained therein looked "odd". Be sure to have your analysts look at the sample I pasted into the original post. If you need to see the actual event, it is on July 11, 2010 of our calendar. Calendar account echogcal . |

Hi Marc, Yes the change to the .ics export file has indeed resolved the problem we formerly experienced with All Day events. The start day and end day now are the same (as they should be). Thanks so much for your quick response. You've made my user happy! ![]() Jim |
