I'm really tired of typing in my username and password. I've asked it to save, and sometimes it does, but usually not.

I've cleared all my cookies associated with the localendar.com and www.localendar.com. I've dumped my browser's cache. I've told my browser (Opera v10.60 under windows 2000) to pretend to be Firefox for this site. I've told my browser (Opera v10.60 under windows 2000) to pretend to be IE for this site. No difference. As soon as I close the brower, reopen, and go to my calendar I'm back to the home page asking for a username and password!

(And it's not my browser--I use other sites with stored login info without a bit of trouble.)

Now the weird thing is that it has worked in the past. Usually for a week or so, and then I'm back to logging in manually again.

Would it matter if multiple people were using the same username/password? We do have several people editing this calendar.

Your comment about the shared id/password is an interesting one. I don't know how frequently other users are updating the calendar, but it could be possible that the "Remember my ID" feature is not playing well across users. Perhaps if any of them click it everyone else in the group is out of luck.

You probably cant ask them all to stop editing the calendar , but perhaps you can ask if anyone else has been checking the box (and experiencing the same problems as you). Ask that no one else check it for a week, while only you check it next time you sign in.

Please let me know if that makes any difference.

If multiple users can't edit the calendar, it's unusable for us.

I can't ask that everyone else type the username and password every single time so that I alone don't have to. I'd be lynched!

I have had it work for a week or so at a time, and I know that both my home and work PC were remembering the username/password. (As I do with many other sites shared between the two computers.) It's weird, in that it has worked in the past, sometimes for a week or maybe even two at a time, and then it won't work at all.

Another data point: I was able to post this forum reply without logging in, so my cookie and browser must be working, right?

Except, I can't go to my calendar!

So, why does auto-login work for the forum, but not the calendar?

The forum and the calendar are different web apps, so their persistence is handled differently, and of course, the underlying files etc are completely different.

We haven't changed any code on our site recently - accept to try and add more logging when this issue began to trickle in from some members.

The most helpful thing you could do is to note the exact time and date when this happens so we can try and match it up with anything strange in our logs.

Another auto-login failure at 11-04-2010 20:50 UTC. (I did delete all cookies and login earlier today, but it only worked once before breaking again.)

Oh, and this time I had to login to the support forum as well.

Tx. We recently became aware of a server bug w/ cookies that we have a patch for. It only affects users where the cookie contains certain characters, which might explain why not everyone is having this issue. We'll be rolling out a patch shortly.
