The full, interactive calendar appears fine in IE 8 and Firefox 3.6. But the Static, What's Happening style does not look as it should in IE 8, and doesn't appear at all in Firefox 3.6. See www.chapalanotebook.com/page1 . Suggestions would be appreciated.

The direct link to the "Today + Soon" for your calendar is:
http://www.localendar.com/public/ChapalaBob?style=D2

When I view it there, it works fine, and when I view it on a test page, it's fine.

The problem is not localendar, it's with your CSS. For starters, the reason it works differently under IE 8 and Firefox is because those browsers support CSS differently (better, actually) than older ones.

For starters, the calendar will appear as soon as you remove the

id="calendar"

from the Div you placed around your calendar. That fixes only some of the CSS issues.

You also have things in your CSS file like :

/*Styles for Tables*/ table {width: 22%; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; }

that are causing the display problems you see. That CSS is being applied to all of the tables on your site (including the ones localendar uses). You should be wary of writing global CSS changes like this, and instead stick to creating specific classes and using those on your page.

Thanks, Marc, for looking at the page source.

Your suggestions worked for viewing the page with IE. However, I still can't see the "what's happening" style with Mozilla Firefox. It should appear at http://www.chapalanotebook.com/page1.htm.

Any additional suggestions (from anyone) would be appreciated.

I still trace this back to some stuff in the CSS. I would remove all of your custom CSS includes from that page, at which point the calendar should display correctly. Then start adding bits of the CSS back in, and you'll find the sections you need to change.

I notice you are using the embedded (non-interactive) calendar style, which is particularly susceptible to CSS conflicts, etc. If you went with the fully-interactive calendar, which I think would fit your page layout just fine, you would have these problems. You can generate the HTML for it under the Publish Wizard.

Thanks again for your comments. However, after eliminating every last bit of CSS, I still can't get the embedded "Happening Soon" calendar to appear using the latest version of Firefox. See http://www.chapalanotebook.com/page1.htm.

The interactive calendar is cool, and works just fine at
http://www.chapalanotebook.com/calendar.htm.

But I wanted another page of the site to contain the "Happening Soon" list.

Thanks again and again.

Interesting. I dont see the calendar displayed when the page is served from your server, but if I save a local copy.. there it is.

Do me a favor and modify your test page to remove the doctype stuff (everything above <html>) and let's see what happens.

Ok, I've removed all DocType material. Doesn't make a difference for Firefox. Still can't see the Happening Soon list at
http://www.chapalanotebook.com/page1.htm
Thanks for looking.

I've got a site (herndonband.org) that is also having CSS issues under IE 8 and Firefox with your embedded calendar.

Basically our issue is that the colors are getting messed up for the dates shown in the left column....we want it to be white text on a blue background (which is what renders in Chrome). IE and Firefox show this as dark blue text on dark blue background.

Any suggestions on what to fix?

I still think it's related to something about how your web server is configured (perhaps to send down a doc type or character encoding even if you havent specified one)

I took your exact page, and uploaded it here:
http://www.localendar.com/samples/chapalabob.html

Which for me, displays the calendar fine in FF, even though I still have issues with the link you sent in FF.

So maybe it's time for a different line of questioning. What can you tell me about where you are hosting the page?

JN756 ,

It looks like you specified a color of "white", which Google might support, but it actually needs to be in HEX (#ffffff). Or, if you picked White from the palette under Options->Colors, this would have been set correctly too.

Anyway, all I did was choose the white color from the palette (as I mentioned) and you're in business.

You might want to increase the height of your iframe so that the calendar doesnt get clipped at the bottom.
