I need to create an event that goes every wednesday and that has an end date. I figured out how to make an event go every wednesday, but it just goes on forever and I can't figure out how to make it stop repeating.

You should be able to enter the date you want the event to stop within the "this event repeats" section. Once you click on this, there is a line where you can select "repeat until".

Hope this helps.
