One thing I immediately noticed is that the 2nd edit link you posted in Step 8 is not valid. http://www.localendar.com/edit/?key=C5U1NT1ZA4JG should be http://www.localendar.com/edit/ohvaparent?key=C5U1NT1ZA4JG When I hit the correct version of that link, I see the event loads up. The event is currently Private, but it is not associated with your current calendar (which is why you don't see it). That's probably why the edit url is wrong and you don't see it when you're signed in (Just pointing out it wasn't actually deleted) Now.. Where did we lose your account name in this process? The issue must be somewhere between steps 4 and 8. When I add/approve/edit an event, I get a new link just like you did, but it still has the correct member name in there. We've made some small changes to try and figure out what's going on (please test again)... but can you also let us know if you are signing out (and/or switching browsers) when you switch between roles of "calendar owner" and "posting parent"? I think that the problem with the edit link in public view is now working. I have tested it multiple times over the last few days and had others also test the function. It appears to be working as it should to my knowledge. I did lose one of my posts today but am not convinced that it was indeed the fault of localendar. One thing that might help tremendously is to provide a way for the calendar monitor to also receive notification when outside posting is done with the edit links. Is that even possible? I noticed that on the actual options menu that it specifically has a check box for the calendar monitor to receive notification for a new event. Can it also be made to receive an update as well? As parents post from outside the calendar and use the edit link, I will know more about whether it is working consistently or not. I plan to update this post in the next few months. Thank you so much for your help. Amanda B. Wiles |

Sounds like we're getting close!. I believe you should receive an email when a post is edited, because that will flip it back to unapproved status. I'll check into that though. As to when the parent is "finished" - I am not sure how we would ever know that. As long as they have the link, they can edit the event to change it. ---------------------------------------- Marc Higgins Support Associate, localendar.com Follow us on Twitter! http://www.twitter.com/localendar_news |

Several posts were lost yesterday using the edit links. These were posted by parents and myself. The issue appears to be unresolved. We will continue to ask that edits and updates be emailed to the calendar monitors to prevent losing the original post. I will check back to see if there are any closing comments. I appreciate all your time and help checking into the matter. Best Regards, Amanda B. Wiles |

Here is the final follow up on the last test for the edit links. Your have submitted a new calendar event. Keep this link someplace safe: http://www.localendar.com/edit/?key=HAGH6YK2UL1O It is the only way for you to return to this event to edit or delete it. Title Third Test - Edit Links on 6/11/2013 (11/07/2013) Description This is the third test to isolate the edit link from removing the parent calendar post. Updating from link provided to parent (myself). This was a private one, now made public by calendar monitor. Email edit link used to update. Successful Used edit link again to update post, same day. Successful It appears that the second round of testing is now gone from the calendar (another post). Third round of testing - Two days using the edit link as a parent. 11/07 Day 3 11/08 using edit link. Successful Day 4 11/09 did not edit. Day 5 11/10 using edit link. Not Successful Edit made and post is gone from the calendar. Where did it go? ![]() |

I see again from your example that the last edit link used did not contain the calendar name (again). We at least already figured out that using a link like this is what causes the event to not be visible on your calendar. We'll check what happened. I also assume you are not using the same link every time? Each time the event is edited using a shortcut link, a different link is provided after Saving it. Still there (see, when I add the name in) http://www.localendar.com/edit/ohvaparent?key=HAGH6YK2UL1O ---------------------------------------- Marc Higgins Support Associate, localendar.com Follow us on Twitter! http://www.twitter.com/localendar_news |

While I can't say we specifically figured out where the calendar name is going in your situation, we are trying a new way to pass it to the user who adds/edit events. Give it some more tries and let us know how you make out. (Sorry; was impersonating another account for testing and posted this; this is actually Marc) ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by support at Nov 14, 2013, 11:12:00 PM] |

Technical Support: Looks like this is a dead end. I don't have any more time to devote to this matter. If you can provide some definite problem solving solutions then I will continue, but this is going in circles. I retrieved all the dead links and have removed/deleted those posts from the system including the prior tests except this one. Thank you. Your have submitted a new calendar event. Keep this link someplace safe: http://www.localendar.com/edit/?key=Y2K2U3ZYQ0KY It is the only way for you to return to this event to edit or delete it. Testing Edit Links for calendar path: ohvaparents Edit Link must have ohvaparents in the edit link path in order to return to the post. Testing to see if all links provide the path. If links do not provide the path, then finding out if adding the path to the link will return the post to the calendar as private so that the calendar monitor can approve the post. Whew! I hope this works! 1. http://www.localendar.com/edit/ohvaparents?key=KFI8JD53EZBV Same day edit link used. Has ohvaparents in it. 11:14 a.m. on 11/14/2013 Sometimes the link remains the same and sometimes it is changed. Ultimately the link loses the ohvaparents and becomes inoperable. 2. This is being updated from a modified link. Localendar removes the calendar path ohvaparents in the edit. There is no way to tell when it will occur. This is a dead link that goes no further and does not work. This is the final test and still no resolution. Conclusion: Edit links will not work consistently in private mode for moderators to approve. This is an ongoing problem since 2006 in both calendars ohva and ohvaparents. |

Sorry; was using a different account earlier. As I mentioned in that post, we did make some changes.. I don't think we are "going in circles" unless by circles you mean, you identify an issue, we attempt to make a correction, then you re-test. That's basically how you solve these types of problems. We haven't been able to duplicate your problem on our side which is why we need your help. Btw, this would not fix old links that were already wrong. However, it should be impossible for new links to be created that do not have your member name (which seem to cover 100% of your issue) Your post to this thread was Oct 2, 2013. I f you had a problem since 2006, I'm sorry you did not mention it sooner. There could be some other strange issue specific to your testing or configuration which we haven't identified, b/c no other members have ever reported this issue in that time span. ---------------------------------------- Marc Higgins Support Associate, localendar.com Follow us on Twitter! http://www.twitter.com/localendar_news ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by support at Nov 14, 2013, 11:14:34 PM] |

Okay let's regroup. I can tell you what I know. I have only been calendar monitor since August 2013 with inside access. I have been using this calendar since 2007 to post events. It has always been this way on both of the school calendars from what I have been told. I would be glad to get more clarification if needed on the specifics. The edit links do not work and both calendars are moderated. I was also told by the school administration that the problem has been addressed before with no resolution. I am not a monitor on the other calendar but that monitor and several other parents have been testing the edit link with the same outcome on ohvaparents to help me. As far as going in circles, I don't see any change on my side except being able to access the old links and delete them from the system. That was a helpful piece of information. Thank you. The only odd thing that I noticed in one edit from a modified edit link where I inserted ohvaparents, was that I lost the regional categories that were set up by me as calendar monitor. It appeared to revert back to the default settings. http://www.localendar.com/edit/?key=W1SVLBQD9X0E I am not a programmer so only you can tell me whether testing by trial and error will be worth our time. I am not sure how sending my edit links would be helpful for tweaking because the bottom line is our member name gets lost in the edit links. I am not the only parent that is experiencing this. Do you need more edit links from other sources? Perhaps this is also part of my going in circles comment trying to determine what to provide so support may resolve the issue. |
