The issue with restricting the size of uploaded images (even to 130px) is that you are only considering the effect on the month-block calendar view. Images of significantly larger sizes can work perfectly well on alternate calendar layouts (like month list)

Auto-approving an event, but making the clip-art available for separate review would be both clunky and confusing to all parties.

I'm not aware of any "assurances" we had made, beyond being willing to to entertain whatever possible solutions members are willing to suggest. The key point is that an enhancement can't be specific to 1 particular calendar view, nor should it introduce an experience that would be user-unfriendly to either members or visitors.

Yes, your account, ashvilleyouth, is valid through 2010. Is that the sign on you are using at localendar? Can you provide more info about what happens when you click on any items on the Premium menu tab?

Is there any way to remove a standard image supplied with every calender. For example, is there any way to remove the Christmas tree on December 25th?

Not yet; the reason we haven't rolled out the 2010- holidays yet is because this is a frequently requested feature we're working to finish.

Edit this Post   My Custom ClipArt Not to Tile - and a Scroll Bars Question Reply to this Post

[Delete this Post]

I am a new user, have premium webmaster service, and have to be able to upload my own custom clipart. I need to know the correct size and/or proportions for a custom image, because when the calendar gets two events on the same day, for example, the frame resizes and makes the clipart tile, which makes the calendar look amateur and broken. For example, the person's head is reappearing underneath the same original photo of their head and body.

Also how to get rid of the scroll bars in Safari or Opera, etc? My friend uses a Mac with Safari and his calendar looks different than my browser. He has scroll bars and the image appears in a different position than my computer with Firefox and IE.

I am guessing on the tiling bit that you are talking about a background image. That's the only place we tile an image. Everyplace else is 1:1. You have 2 options in this case: Put the calendar in a container (eg <div>) that restrict it to a size so that it never causes the tiling, or 2) make the image big enough (or add spacing) so that no tiling ever occurs.

The "2 events and it resizes" and scrollbars comments don't give me a lot of info. Let me take a crack at the 2nd one: If you are using an iframe, then you can add
SCROLLING=NO
to your iframe. Just make sure the
height
is large enough to accomodate all your events. Even with scrolling=no, some browsers might add a scrollbar if the frame height is too small for the content.

This much requested feature has been added. Members may now upload their own clipart to use in their events!

This feature requires one of our premium subscriptions (see: http://www.localendar.com/elsie?JSP=/subscribe/premium_index)

In the "Add an Image to this Event" section of the Event Editor, there is a button for "My Clipart Library" which will allow you to upload and maintain your artwork on localendar.com

You may add images to the event (select Uploaded Images as the category), or to the event description (Click the small "tree" icon)

Your images are also accessible at

http://www.localendar.com/upload/yourmembername/imagefilename

This means you may also use HTML's <img> tag to add uploaded images to your event title, calendar title, or calendar footer
example:

<img src="http://www.localendar.com/upload/myname/myimage.gif"/>

You can also use your uploaded images for the calendar background! (Under Options->Colors)
hugs

Tried to use this for the first time. I was successful at uploading apparently but the uploaded images do not appear. Nowhere that I can find does it indicate what size and other specs are required for the graphics uploaded. Don't you think it would be nice to give that info? It looks like a 320p won't be automatically reduced to fit whatever the spec is, so what do you require? Maybe 30x20? Something else?
