Edit this Post   Event entered with HTML editor disappeared after being approved Reply to this Post

One of our non-profits entered 2 events using the HTML editor. I viewed them in the Submitted view, made some minor changes, and approved them. They both completely disappeared - not visible on the published calendar; no longer in /submitted.

The gal then re-entered them, and this time the one that is on a single date "took" (see example1 )., but the repeating event again disappeared. I then used the HTML editor to re-enter the event from the localendar email I received, and this time it appears to be working. See example2 ).

I am concerned that the disappearance of the events is semi-repeatable. Do you know what's going on? Here are the details I can think of:
- HTML format
- Submitted with clipart, but I disabled that
- Submitted with a background color, which I erased
- Submitted and approved with a category
- The first event is on a single day for a specified time; the second event repeats daily for 4 days and is an all-day event.

There is this issue, which we are looking into:
http://www.localendar.com/lcf/lcforums/viewthread?thread=4267&c=9

However, that member has specifically indicated that the link used by the member to edit the event has to be re-accessed for the event removal to occur.

What you are describing is a situation where the event is immediately deleted when you mark it as approved (?)

None of the other details you submit should be related to your problem, but we're testing it all nonetheless.

Can you check with the woman who submitted the events and see if she tried to edit them after you approved them?

Well, I have a mixed answer for you.

In the first entry, things happened basically this way - am not sure of exact sequence.
1. Gal entered 2 events
2. Admin (me) go the email alerts and approved them
2. Gal edited the events [I can't guarantee this happened after I approved, but I approved them quickly, so suspect this happened after approval. I can get the time sequence if it's important.
2. Admin did NOT receive a second email about the changes - user just reported to me she had made changes
2. Somewhere in there the events disappeared.

The second time around, there was no editing that I know of. I will check on this as well. I received only one email for each event, approved them, and after each approval checked immediately to see if the event had been published. You know the results - one posted; one disappeared.

I am becoming convinced you're right that editing must occur before the disappearance happens ... but I can't make it happen! Am waiting to hear back from my nonprofit gal to see if she edited one of the events the second time around. In the meantime, I tried entering an event, approving it, changing it, approving it again, and so forth several times, but it always worked flawlessly - no disappearing event.

The only thing I noticed, which perhaps should be fixed, is that I got an email telling me how to edit my entry each time, but the only Admin email alert I got was from the very first entry. Since editing an approved event flips it back to unapproved status (in our case, with our settings), an email to the admin should be generated each time.

Okay, well THIS is embarrassing! I "found" one of the disappearing events - it was meant to be entered and approved for June of 2014, but I "found" it in June of 2013. But when I double-checked the very first entry, it had been entered on the right date. So there may be an issue with disappearance and editing based on the first round of entries, but I was mistaken in reporting the second occurrence.

The good result is that I now understand how the editing/approving cycle works if the end user keeps editing an event. And I would still like to see an admin email notification every time an event gets set back to "unapproved."

Thanks for listening. Sorry for the false alarm on at least the one event - still not sure about the first 2, when editing did occur.

Thanks for the follow-up post. We'll make sure to verify that *we* aren't changing the date as part of the re-testing we're doing.
