This has been a long time in coming, but it's just about ready...

Suppose you have a public calendar like:
http://www.localendar.com/public/spandemo

Kind of messy, right? Wouldn't it look nicer if multi-day events were merged together like this:
http://www.localendar.com/public/spandemo?style=M4

We think so smile

One of the reasons this was so complicated for us is because (unlike most of the other calendars out there) we support events that repeat multiple days, multiple times in the week. Like this simple example:

http://www.localendar.com/public/spandemo1?style=M4

Most of the other folks just let you take an event and have it repeat for a few days a single time. We realize though, that our "advanced repeating" functionality is more than many people need, so we'll be adding an easy way to do simple repeats also.

In the meantime, yes, you can try out the new format simply by adding ?style=M4 to your public calendar link. It only works for the full page style right now, but it will work everywhere in the next week or so.

Oh - one other quick thing: This will probably become the default month-view style in the near future.

Happy localendaring!

Dear Marc,

While I applaud your efforts to redesign the looks of your fine fine calendar, may I suggest that you give USERS the option to choose between the "new" and the "classic" look.

It's hard to please everyone, I know.. Never been easy.

My mistake: The old views aren't going away; we're just adding another one. The ability to pick the preferred view is part of this enhancement.

Right now, there are a lot of alternate views which can only be used on Published calendars. The idea is to let any of them be your basic view. (New members will receive the new M4 view by default though, which was my original point)

Now I have no menu on the left side of the screen and cannot add new events. Is anyone else having this problem? Does anyone know what it wrong? I am able to edit events already added; I just cannot add new because there is no button to click. Help!!

As noted in the parent post, this view is still being worked on. The links posted were for demonstrating *published* views using this new style. As also noted above, there are many views beyond the basic day/week/month ones. As part of this enhancement, you will be able to set any of them as your default.

I am using the New Calendar Style and I noticed that one repeating notice was double the thickness of another repeating notice. I prefer the clean look of the thinner repeating notice.

Any suggestions on getting them both to be of the thinner variety?

The thicker one included a week-end day. I wonder if that had anything to do with it?

See: http://www.localendar.com/public/WaioraInformation?style=M4 as to what I mean.

Thanks,

Robert in Hawaii

This is correct. Because the (green) weekend day event spans multiple lines, the yellow week-event needs to be expanded to match its size.

I hope you include a bi-monthly option in the new calendar. I use it all the time, or I would use it all the time.

One think I would love to see is the week-block view have the look of the month block view so you can differentiate the colors. I like block view to post assignments for my classes throughout the day in a merged calendar, but it gets to large after a week or two of events. I really feel the week view block and list are kind of busy looking.

Thanks

Love the new layout, but having a small problem with the background color...it won't 'stick.'

When I go back to the 'old' style, the backgournd color i set shows up...when I use the new style, I get the default blue instead of the black...is this a known glitch? (couldn't find it in the known problems listing...)
