Marc:

I have recently noticed two problems with the use of event categories. The first was fixed several months ago, but has reappeared recently. The 2nd is new. Since I have not opened and hidden individual categories much recently, I don’t know what these problems actually started, but I am assuming that they are a by-product of some of the extensive changes you have been making in Localendar.

For the problem that has reappeared, go here:
http://www.localendar.com/public/OPwebmaster?rss_link=false

This is just a full page view of my calendar. Go to April, 2016. Deselect ‘Show All’ and select ‘Tennis Ottawa’ (the brown background). Now move to May. ‘Show All’ and all of the individual categories are checked, and all events appear on the calendar. That should not be happening. Localendar is supposed to remember what was set in April, and reflect that in May.

Deselect Show All’ and this time select ‘Tennis Jermain’ (the blue background). Now move back to April. Again, ‘Show All’ and all of the individual categories are checked, and they all appear on the calendar.

My Localendar is actually published as part of my website as a ‘fully interactive embedded calendar’. Go here:
http://www.ottawapark.org/calendar-ottawa-park-toledo.html

In addition to the above problem, there is a new one. Again, go to April, 2016. Deselect ‘Show All’ and select ‘Tennis Ottawa’ (the brown background). Correctly, the brown events are the only ones that appear. Select ‘Show All’. All of the events appear, but none of the other event categories are checked. Now check ‘Tennis Jermain’. Once that category is checked, ALL the blue events disappear from the calendar! If you then uncheck ‘Tennis Jermain’, the blue events reappear on the calendar. Check ‘Tennis Jermain’ again, so the blue events have disappeared. Notice that ‘Show All’ is no longer checked. Check ‘Show All’, and the events on the calendar appear, but the events that were not checked are still not checked.

Now move to May. All of the events appear on the calendar, but only ‘Tennis Jermain’ and ‘Tennis Ottawa’‘s individual categories are checked. Now uncheck ‘Tennis Jermain’, and all the events disappear from the calendar—just like they should. Notice that ‘Disc Golf’ (green) is not checked. Check it, and the green events DISappear.

Finally, note that a Refresh of the screen will not provide a screen with all the events shown and all the individual categories checked. You have to close the browser, and reopen it.

There may be more anomalies, but I stopped testing at this point.

I remember from past threads that you said the coding for the fully interactive calendar was not the same as for the full page view, so perhaps this second problem is a by-product of the first problem (the one that reappeared).

Thanks for the detailed info.
Yes, the category selection should be retained (but isn't), and I don't see any immediate reason why any of the recent changes are to blame. We'll check into it and let you know.

Just an update that we are still looking into this.
On my personal test calendar, event category settings *are* being saved correctly when I move between months. But I also have the issue where it is not working correctly for your calendar view.

This shouldn't happen unless there is some setting difference between our calendars that I am missing...

I have 96 events across 21 teams to schedule.

The only way localendar really works for me is to use the categories to segregate the meets by teams, so each team only seems their event on a given day.

Since localendar allows one category assignment per event, I need to create 3 entries for each meet; one for the home team, one for the visitor, and one at the division level. There are few exceptions, but I end up with 268 events to create and maintain.

With the embedded month calendar view not working (ie. not retaining the category filter between months), it is useless to me.

No team wants to filter through 36 entries on a given day to find theirs.

Please help and fix this. I can provide examples. Please see my other thread listed above.

I can tell you one thing that seems to work for me (and you folks can test and reply)

If I use http://localendar.com instead of http://www.localendar.com, the filters seem to be preserved correctly. Please let me know your results

Yes. That seems to have done it. Thank you!
My guess is I made this change (edited) directly on the webserver's files and when I republished the site this year from the software I use, it put back the www.

If I use that on my stand alone calendar here: http://localendar.com/public/OPwebmaster?rss_link=false
everything seems to work fine, whereas it did not before. I haven't had a chance to update the coding on my website where Localendar is a fully interactive embedded calendar, but should get to that this weekend.

I guess the real question is: why did the www prefix work previously, but no longer?

I see that you have recently changed the 'Publish My Calendar' page so the www no longer appears.
