I'm using the responsive iframe style on the Publish Wizard and my calendars are publishing okay - except for the fact that on some months there is way too much blank space at the bottom. For example my March and April calendars size okay, but from May onward there is too much blank space at the bottom.
My website calendar page is here:

http://www.ussvirginiabase.org/base-calendar.html

I've tried republishing several times and I've also checked the results on Chrome, Internet Explorer and Firefox. They all render the same.
Any ideas on how to correct this 'problem' would be appreciated - although it is certainly not a show stopper.
Thanks!
Kenn

My first thought: You are using the responsive iframe, which is a good choice to size the height automatically.

However, you also have a fixed height specified on the iframe (height="1726px") which you don't want. That's keeping the size of the frame very big, even if the calendar isn't large enough to fill it. So I would remove that bit for starters and see if that corrects your issue.

Another common problem is CSS on the page setting a large height for the <div> where you have pasted your calendar HTML. I took a quick look and didn't see this jump out immediately, so try the tip above and let me know how you make out.

Thanks Marc - I appreciate the quick reply.
However, my knowledge of HTML code is almost zero so I'm using Website X5 Professional 13 for my website. That program does not appear to offer a 'split view' to let me see the actual code, so I went to my site using Microsoft Expression Web 4.
Unfortunately I couldn't locate the iframe (height=1726px) you mentioned so I exited that program, fearing I might do damage to it.
The problem definitely appears to be a table 'height' issue of some sort but I don't know how to search that out.
Is there anything you can give me in the localendar HTML code for my calendar that is produced by your program, that I then paste into my X5 page HTML object that would resolve this height issue? My X5 program offers an HTML Code Object, which I'm using, and I have the "Enable Automatic Height" box checked in that object. However, the HTML I have copied from localendar and inserted into that object does not appear to be specific enough to make a distinction on the table heights associated with each monthly calendar - i.e. some months are okay, but some have way too much blank space at the bottom. Plus there appears to be much more space than necessary within the table for each week. It begs for me to click on the separating lines to drag them closer together, but of course it doesn't work that way.
Thanks for your help with this!

Hi Kenn,

Yes - the problem is actually on changes made to the HTML code that was created at localendar.
Specifically, the line on your site looks like this:
<iframe style="width:100%" ;="" id="localendar-iframe" src="//localendar.com/public/USSVirginiaBase?style=M4" height="1641px"></iframe>

That was created at localendar, but somehow, somewhere along the way the "height=1641px" bit was added.

Now of course, you are saying right now "He said it was 1726 the other day... what's up?". And I believe that was the correct number.

I suspect that somehow your web page editor is dynamically trying to add a height value. Maybe that's the effect of the "Enable Automatic Height" setting. I would try unchecking that option, and see if that makes a difference.

Hey Mark!

Well, that is definitely the issue because when I unchecked the "Enable Automatic Height" box I had to specify a height myself so I slowly worked my way up, looking at the results in preview mode. Using my March calendar as a "minimum" height I ended up with good results anywhere between 1400 and 1550. However, those heights don't work for some calendars - I guess depending on how many events I have populated into those months.

However, having said that, the height seems to vary every month after the current month and the farther I go out the weirder it gets. Although I don't have the automatic height enabled in my X5 program, something is causing it to be dynamic and not hold at whatever height I specify.

Do you have any clue as to what might be dynamically changing this now that I have taken automatic height off at my end?

Thanks for your help with this!

Marc,
Okay - yesterday (3/10/17) I deleted that page from my web site altogether and then recreated it from scratch and then added the HTML code for localendar.
I believe it's working better, but the monthly calendars still seem to change their height the further out I go from the current month.
I'm wondering if maybe the issue has something to do with how I created each individual event.
Could you please look at it now and let me know.
Thanks!
Kenn

There is something cumulative happening on the main site that is adding height to the div where the calendar is contained.

Here is my latest suggestion ;)
We support multiple ways to publish your calendar exactly for these cases where the target site is doing some weird stuff.

I am going to suggest you use a fixed-size iframe on your site, and not the responsive iframe. I'd make the height tall enough to accommodate most months, and in cases where the frame isn't tall enough, I'd have a scrollbar automatically appear.

Is this our most seamless integration? No - but it should work better within the tool you are using. Here is the sample code:

<iframe src="//localendar.com/public/USSVirginiaBase" height=600 width=700 marginheight=0 marginwidth=0 scrolling=yes frameborder=0 border=0></iframe>

Adjust the "height" and "width" value in the code above until you find the best options for your site and content.

Thanks Marc!

I may give that a try - but I've decided I'm not all that unhappy with the way it's behaving - at least for the current month and the next one out. I think I'll wait and see if the current month always looks good and if it does I may not fool around with the out months. Some blank space at the bottom of an occasional calendar is not that big of a deal (now that I've gotten my mind around it a bit).

Thanks for your help!
