![]() Using the URL for my discussion board in a new window or existing windoow (IE 6+ (SP2)) I will click on the post a new message by typing some text and then cutting and pasting other text from a Word document I want to share. When I click on the Save Message button the page reloads with a blank post message screen. WhenI go to the topics page the message is not there. Any help is appreciated! Respectfully, Steve |

Maybe there are limitations as to how much text a post can contain... What are the restrictions, parameters for the discussion board regarding cut and paste text, how many characters per post, etc. Also I think I read some posts about the discussion boards being replaced eventually with the forums, is that correct and have you updated the date for this? Thanks again! |

I think the "old" forums limit the posts to 2000 characters. But anything longer should be truncated; you shouldn't get a blank screen. Regarding the "new" forums (like this one). You can use them now. They are at www.localendar.com/forums/yourmembername (as opposed to the old ones which are at www.localendar.com/topics/yourmembername) The only thing we will be changing is where the button that you can automatically add to the bottom of your public calendar takes you. In the meantime, you could just add your own HTML to the calendar footer that takes visitors to the new forum. ---------------------------------------- Marc Higgins Support Associate, localendar.com Follow us on Twitter! http://www.twitter.com/localendar_news |

I've been using Localendar for nearly a year. We (a ski club) use the calendar more than the discussion board, but I'm hoping that will change. I see plenty of value in a bulletin board system for our club. Recently our members stopped being able to log into the discussion (topics) board. I have the calendar and discussion board framed. I seem to remember that being a problem with logging in before, but I thought I resolved it. At any rate it is again a problem. I found some info about switching to forums from topics. I hoped that the new product would work framed, but doesn't seem to. I simply substituted the word TOPICS with FORUMS in the url. While viewing the page in design mode in FrontPage I see our clubs forums, but when viewing the page from the browser, I get a default forums and an error message when logging in. Thanks for any help you can provide |

Can you share the URL of the new page (or the prototype your're building?) Also, besides just switching the URL, you will first want to go in under your id, click Administration, and add the Categories/Forums that you want the new discussion board to have (it's a completely different system than the old /topics one) ---------------------------------------- Marc Higgins Support Associate, localendar.com Follow us on Twitter! http://www.twitter.com/localendar_news |
