This is a great addition! However, on my calendar where public additions to the calendar are allowed, I've had a few cases where people don't get that the feature when using Add Event is for thumbnail size images to appear on the calendar in place of the standard images. Sometimes, a large file is uploaded as clip-art (event posters, etc.)that completely messes up the calendar. If possible I'd like to see something telling people to keep their images small. I suggest to the people that post to my calendar to keep their images to not wider than 130 pixels as wider images clip days or portions of days off my calendar that I keep at 980 pixels wide. Can something be added on the Add Event scree to let people know that larger images should be included only in the Description area and not as calendar clip-art? |

One thing associated with this among other submitter mistakes, misinterpretations and in some cases possible calendar misuse that can lead to calendar problems is that there's no mandatory inclusion of the submitter's e-mail contact. This means that if a submitter to the calendar is doing something wrong, there's simply no way to let them know what they are doing wrong and provide guidance on how to do it right. I feel that if a submitter isn't ready to give e-contact info, an addition to a calendar should not be possible. If the calendar admin doesn't know who made the addition, how can it get corrected? All that can be done is either correct it yourself or delete the entry that the submitter could well re-submit again wrong. In the case of the upload of a poster as clip-art, I guessed who it might be. She said it wasn't her. So, I sent a note to my approx 200 musicians' list and one 'fessed up' and apologized once she knew the problem she had caused. Before that, she simply had no idea what she did wrong or what she did was a problem. A simple mandatory e-mail address as part of her submission would have narrowed down the 'culprit' quickly so she could be given the guidance needed. |

Providing a field for this isn't a bad idea; but of course if someone wants to stay anonymous they'll just enter bad data anyway. I've been known to be x@x.com myself a few times ![]() ---------------------------------------- Marc Higgins Support Associate, localendar.com Follow us on Twitter! http://www.twitter.com/localendar_news |
