I'd love to have a static calendar option to embed in my web site that is a mini version of the Today+Happening Soon, but only the Today part. Alternatively, an option to choose a date range would be great (i.e. today + #days).

The "Day" view is essentially "Today". You can create the HTML for one of the different Day View styles under the Publish Wizard.

You can also set the Duration for Today+Happening Soon under Options. Select the General tab and click "Show More" at the bottom of the tab.
