Add Event Menu is gone Dear Support, A client of mine has been using localendar for several years and ran into a problem around February this year - she wasn't able to access the Add Event menu anymore. The menu simply does not appear anymore. I showed her a screen-shot and pointed out where the menu should appear and she said it does not appear in her browser. She is using an iMac with Mac OS 9.0.4, Internet Explorer 5.1. We tried to install another browser but FireFox won't install nor Opera. She doesn't have Safari on her computer. For the moment I'm adding events and she's able to click on them and alter them as necessary but I have to enter them initially - she cannot enter a new event. Any thoughts? With kind regards, Dan |

Re: Add Event Menu is gone Can you have her click on the Contact Us link on the bottom of the page, and post the small table below the contact form here? example: Browser type and version IE 6.0 Browser build Platform WinXP Cookies supported true Cookies enabled JavaScript supported true JavaScript enabled There have been scattered reports of this issue; and I suspect it has something to do with the new mini-navigation calendar on the left menu, and browser detection not working correctly on Macs. ---------------------------------------- Marc Higgins Support Associate, localendar.com Follow us on Twitter! http://www.twitter.com/localendar_news |

Re: Add Event Menu is gone Ah - apparently it has to do with a migration away from the DHTML calendar we had developed internally on the left menu to a commercial product. I contacted the vendor, and received the following response:
Is there any likelihood she will upgrade her browser/os? ---------------------------------------- Marc Higgins Support Associate, localendar.com Follow us on Twitter! http://www.twitter.com/localendar_news |

Re: Add Event Menu is gone Thanks for the follow-up. My client realizes that she has an old computer, os and browser but she hasn't wanted to upgrade. I'll let her know what you told me. Myabe she'll upgrade now ... Is there a way that the vendor could put a test on their menu so that if the browser is not capable of rendering the new menu it will render the old menu? Thanks again, Dan |

Re: Add Event Menu is gone I spoke with my client and she said that she has other financial responsibilities at the moment so she won't be upgrading soon. For the moment I'll continue to enter her calendar updates for her ... |

Re: Add Event Menu is gone I figured out a workaround for my client. 1. She logs into her localendar account. 2. She pastes into her browser's address bar http://www.localendar.com/elsie?DAM=EventEditor Is it possible to put this link somewhere on the page or as I mentioned earlier, have the old menu appear when the browser is not capable of dsiplaying the new menu? |

Re: Add Event Menu is gone We can try and hide the small calendar for Mac (IE 5.1) users; I'm a little surprised the event editor works, b/c it uses the same dynamic calendar for date selection (I guess the drop-downs still function) THe problem w/ the old code is we are really keen on retiring it as it is a big burden to maintain (it was written when browsers were a lot less standard than they are today, if you can imagine such a time ever existed ![]() ---------------------------------------- Marc Higgins Support Associate, localendar.com Follow us on Twitter! http://www.twitter.com/localendar_news |
