We now offer support for merging iCal feeds (from sites like Google Calendar , iCalShare , and CalendarData ) onto your localendar.
This is a great way to incorporate all kinds of events, holidays, sport schedules, etc automatically.
This is the first in a series of ways in which we will provide robust iCal support:
  • Merge public iCal feeds (done!)
  • Allow upload of .ics files
  • Export localendar as an iCal file or feed
This feature is currently available to Premium Subscribers by clicking the Merge button on the Premium menu. However, after shaking out any remaining bugs, it is our intention to remove subscription requirements for all Merge functionality.

Try it out!

Hello and thank you for the iCal Merging function! I have set up a merge with google calendar and for the most part it's working great. I have noticed one area where the times do not display correctly. When you click on a localendar event link of a merged event the time displayed in the pop up box is incorrect. The time difference is 5 hours... I am in the EST time zone. The times on the calendar are displayed correctly. Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Could you provide me with a bit more detail?

You've merged a Google iCal feed onto your localendar calendar.
What timezone is your Google calendar set for?

Can you tell me the time/date of the Google event that displays incorrectly? I'd like to set up a duplicate to try and replicate your problem.

You also noted:

The times on the calendar are displayed correctly

Does that mean the time on the localendar month-view is correct, but only in the event popup it shows the 5 hour difference?

Sure!

1. On your google calendar, click Settings->Calendar Settings on the top-right.
2. Select the Calendars tab on the next screen
3. Click on the name of your calendar to go to the Calendar Details screen
4. Under "Calendar Address", click the green "ICAL" icon. Your calendar's web address will be displayed. Copy this to your clipboard.

Now go over to localendar.com and sign into your account
1. Once you are logged in, just go to this link:
http://www.localendar.com/cal?JSP=CalendariCal
(I'm just saving a few navigation steps here smile )

2. Paste the url from your clipboard into the "Add an iCal calendar box on the right"
3. [optional] select a color for these merged events
4. Click "Merge Calendar" and you're all set!

Please let me know how you made out.

Yup. That feature came out at the same time (and was discussed in another thread)

The public iCalendar feed for your calendar has an icon at the bottom of your public calendar page, or you can use this format for the url:

I easily merged a google calendar into my localendar account. However it does not appear in my listings. I merged another localendar account just fine. It shows up under my merged calendars. I made sure it is public but cannot think of anything else to check. Please advise!

Your public calendar feed actually consists of "Free/Busy" information and not actual events. Localendar will import VEVENT (ics events) but not VFREEBUSY (free/busy) entries.

Free/Busy information refers to when your calendar is open to events (or not). It is not event information in itself.

I merged directly in from the webcal address onto your calendar (and set the color as yellow, which makes them jump out) and saw your events with no problems.

If you aren't seeing them.. make sure your browser isn't caching an old version of the page (see http://www.wikihow.com/Clear-Your-Browser%27s-Cache )
